Terms of service.
These terms cover the Curfew apps, the Curfew service and this website. They are written to be read, not skimmed. If anything is unclear, ask us.
Who may use Curfew
Curfew is for parents and legal guardians who are at least 18 years old, managing iPhones used by their own children or by children in their legal care. By installing Curfew on a phone, you confirm you have the authority to manage that phone. Do not use Curfew on the phone of an adult, or of anyone whose phone you have no right to control. We suspend accounts that do.
What Curfew is
Curfew is an app for a child's iPhone that enforces a schedule using Apple's Screen Time tools, and an optional parent app and online service ("Premium") that let you run that schedule from your own phone. The child's app works without an account. Premium needs a Curfew account.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account, including what the co-parents and approvers you invite do with the permissions you give them. Give us accurate information and keep it current.
Subscriptions and billing
- Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple's App Store. Apple bills you, in your local currency, at the price shown in the App Store when you subscribe.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel or change plans in Settings on your iPhone, under your name, then Subscriptions.
- Every account can start with a free trial of the Family plan. The trial converts to a paid plan only if you choose one. If you do nothing, Premium ends and the child's phone keeps its last schedule.
- If a price changes, Apple tells you first and you can cancel before it applies.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's rules. If Curfew itself failed you, tell us too.
- When a subscription ends, the parent app becomes read-only. Nothing is removed from the child's phone, and the console in the child's app keeps working.
Your use of the apps is also covered by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where these terms and Apple's agreement differ about the apps, Apple's agreement applies.
What Curfew does not promise
Curfew is a tool, not a substitute for a parent. It depends on Apple's Screen Time tools, which can be delayed, bypassed by a determined child who knows a parent's Apple Account password, or changed by Apple. We do not promise that any particular app or website will be blocked, that a notification will arrive at a particular time, or that the service will never be interrupted. Curfew never blocks phone calls, but do not rely on it, or on any app, for emergencies. Read what Curfew can't do before you depend on it.
Using the service fairly
Do not try to break, overload or probe the service, interfere with other families' use of it, or use it to harass anyone. Do not use automated tools to create accounts or submit requests. If you find a security problem, tell security@curfewfamily.com rather than exploiting it.
Your information
Names, places, schedules and notes you enter belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them so the service can work, as described in our privacy policy. You can delete them, and your account, at any time.
Changes to Curfew
We will keep improving Curfew, which means features change and some are retired. If we retire something you pay for, we tell you in advance. If we ever shut the service down, we give at least 60 days' notice, and the child's phone keeps enforcing its last schedule until the app is removed.
Ending things
You can stop using Curfew and delete your account whenever you like. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or that is used in a way that harms others, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Curfew is provided as is, and our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
Disagreements
If you have a problem, email us first and we will try to sort it out within 30 days. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Curfew is organized, without regard to conflict of law rules. Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court where that is available.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we post the new version here with a new date. If a change matters, we tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using Curfew after a change means you accept it.
